Dungeon 26 Roundup Week 1

Hi all! I’m going to try to do this little roundup every Friday. For context over on Instagram (here) I am doing a dungeon 23 challenge and calling it Dungeon 26. My idea is to do a little recap on my website every Friday that includes the progress made, any stat blocks I want to make or any more mechanical details about the rooms that I can’t fit into an Instagram reel. I will also share general thoughts and goals and perhaps lore but I want to add more lore to the Instagram side though that will come with time.

That being said, here is the roundup for this week!

1/1/26: Atrium

The Atrium was once a grand entrance hall to some ancient common area but now it stands in ruin. From the cemetery above bones fall through the ground and collect in large piles throughout the room. They crunch and crack as you move carefully through them while they threaten to cut through your boots. The sound also may awaken a Bone Amalgam that rests in the center of the atrium. From the cracked stone ceiling hooks hang that hold onto tatters of cloth that were once banners. One set of hooks still holds a faded gray flag with an opulent crown on it.

The Bone Amalgam I do not have a stat block for and since I want to keep this setting agnostic I don’t know if I will, at least not right now. It should be a slow skeletal creature that hits fairly hard but is easy to hit itself.

Moving through the sea of bones should require a dexterity check or equivalent to not get cut or stabbed. Alternatively you can move very slow but this runs the risk of waking the enemy in the room. On that note, stealth may also be required to move through the bones without making too much noise.

The southern door is locked but the eastern door is unlocked and open. The hallway however is “trapped”. It is not set up by anyone but the ground and walls are unstable. Too much movement may cause the roof to collapse and rain down a pocket of bones causing damage.

1/2/26: Theater

The Theater is just that, a theater. When people lived here plays and assemblies would happen here for many purposes. Currently a podium stands alone on stage and from behind the closed curtains a faint light glows. In the seats sporadically there are skeletons laying dead. The podium can be used to speak with the dead in a manner similar to the “speak with dead” spell from D&D 5e. The skeletons may also be willing to assist in what comes in the next room…

The theater is probably one of the simplest rooms I had in mind but it provides some fun roleplay for anyone entering as well as a spooky atmosphere.

Closing Thoughts

Well there it is! Our very first weekly roundup has concluded. Only two rooms this week so expect MUCH more next Friday when I will see you again! Please feel free to check out the series on Instagram and leave feedback about it or this format on the website! Thanks!
