Inspired by Sean McCoy’s Dungeon23, I will be doing that this year! Next year?

For those who don’t know Dungeon23 was a project/challenge to anyone to make a mega dungeon for ttrpg’s. It didn’t necessarily have to be a dungeon it could have been a city or world or whatever but the idea was that you make 1 room per day. I have always loves this concept and have been wanting to do it for a while now so I am just gonna send it in 2026. I will make an Instagram or something for it I am not sure if I will do daily updates here but I will update sometimes.

The idea for my mega dungeon is this. It exists in a world where, until recently, every sentient thing was immortal. People, animals, monsters all couldn’t die outside of bodily harm. At the same time gods exist physically alongside mortals although they too can die just like man. These gods wield power to govern the laws of reality and because they hold so much power they often build mega structures to protect themselves. These lairs or domains must be navigable by divine decree but there is nothing stopping a god from filling their structure with treasure rooms to buy people out or monsters and traps to otherwise deter them.

Gods would want to do this because people get angry when you mess with their lives and no matter how much you try to please everyone someone will be angry and try to kill you. Killing a god means many things among which, you can inherit their power. However most mortals choose to live peaceful, if vain, decadent, and petty lives in the mega cities that pop up around these godly lairs. These cities often spread to the point where the only natural land left for hundreds of thousands of miles is in private gardens.

Enter Death. It has decided that mankind is no longer worthy of its immortality and has set a new law of reality into motion: you age again. Rather than being able to just choose to stay at one age or another every person, monster, and animal alive can now die of old age. Nobody liked this of course and so almost everyone set out to take on Death’s dungeon immediately. However most people want the glory and prestige of killing a god all to themself. For this reason and others, there have been and likely will never be a mass scale attempt to kill Death, for inside the dungeon it is every person for themself.
